Eulogy for a Patriarchal god

You died

and I missed you

You promised to take care of me and you didn't

But I missed you anyway

And I couldn't cry when you died

Instead, I cried and I hated you.

I raged and vowed I would never have anything to do with you again

But I missed you

Because you had saved me

You were there when I needed you

When there was no one else, you gave me meaning

You carried me through hell,

You walked with me through the valley of the shadow of death

Without you, I would have been so lonely, so despairing, I would have died

But then you died because you couldn't save me

my heart was broken

and the world moved on without you

I am grateful for those years you were there for me

But I wish it could have been different

I wish I hadn't been abused; I wish someone else had been there to help me

I wish I hadn't had to spend years learning the truth

I wish I hadn't had to miss you

I have mourned and I have grieved

I finally shed my tears because you died and I missed you
